Radio help:
This table lists the radio frequencies that are permitted for model boat
operation within the United States and Canada. You will more than
likely here these referred to in terms of channel numbers example 62 or
74. The table lists the channel (61, 62, etc...) and the actual frequency
this refers to as classified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Boats are allowed to run on 27 MHz (channels 1-6) and 75 MHz (channels
61-90). Within this designation, you will also hear radio manufactuers
using AM (amplitude modulation), AM NarrowBand, FM (frequency modulation)
and PCM (pulse code modulation). Up until 1991, boats operated
on channels 1-6 and the even channels 62 through 90. The odd
channels went into effect on 1/1/1991. All odd channel 75 MHz equipment,
e.g. channel 63, must be either FM or PCM. Some have
suggested that clubs not run adjacent channels, e.g. 62 and 63 in the same
heat until further tests have been run.
